This summer we as a family did quite a bit of camping with dogs, up to six of them. Yes, I said six, which was a ton of fun. We have a 3 Man Water Tube that our boat pulls, well we were riding on it and low and behold the dogs acted like they wanted to ride with us. We decided to put life jackets on them and see if they liked the ride or if they were going to be terrified. Well we put Oakey, Kona, and Missy on the tube and they loved it. Missy was Titanic dog, and Oakey and Kona sat on top of us besides us basically wherever they wanted to sit. We stopped the boat to switch out dogs and man that was hilarious, it was impossible to get them off the tube, they wanted to keep riding. Once we got them off and tried to switch they would jump in front of each other to get back on. It took a few people in the boat to hold dogs so we could switch. Once we switched we rode for a while and had to stop to switch again, it was the same routine, dogs piling on top of each other to get on or stay on the tube. I was sure they were going to be afraid and not want to ride, boy was I wrong. We took it slow, put life jackets on them, and was very careful of them being around the rope that was attached to the boat. We wanted to make sure they did not get close to it, safety was one of our first concerns. We wanted them to enjoy riding with us and not be scared and I think we accomplished our goal. I can’t wait until next summer when we can ride again. One other important factor was that the dogs were hot and we were trying to keep them cool and have fun and this was one way we figured out how to accomplish this task and I think we did.
